It seems like ages ago that Rose Case and I announced our small space makeover winners. We’re happy to say that we are ready to reveal the results of our first winner, Malory! We were immediately married to Malory’s authentic boho style, the space, however, proved to be challenging due to its tiny size and standard apartment finish-out. Working with Rosie was truly a dream come true. She foraged so many wonderful items and her styling is bar-none.The apartment was comprised of two spaces: living and bedroom. Rosie and I carved out a third space, by losing a low hanging light fixture and finding cozy, pied-à-terre sized dining pieces.
Rosie’s amazing eye ferreted out some incredible pieces from thrift stores around DFW to add dimension to the space.
The fate of the bedroom was sealed when Rosie scored an incredible zebra-striped rattan headboard on Craigslist. Due to space, the floor plan had to remain the same, so it was a real bonus to have this punched up look from the headboard. To compliment our zebra headboard, we went for vintage, tropical botanical prints and Framebridge provided their framing expertise with incredible faux bamboo frames and matting for them!
As for the living room, Malory had just received a very functional sectional for Christmas, so we layered that up with goods from Shop Atlantis Home to make it even more true to Malory’s boho style. None of us were a fan of the shaggy brown carpet in the apartment, but we were saved by Loloi Rugs, who donated a beautiful Persian Style rug to layer! We pulled the whole look together by installing Ikat drapes from World Market in every window.
One of the perks of this makeover was a painting by Faith Christiansen Smeets. Malory chose this original work on paper and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. It really captures Malory’s playful, sophisticated aesthetic.
Rosie is my dream team! I will let you know if we decide to do one in the fall!
