I finally solidified one of my best Instagram friendships by flying down to St. Petersburg, Florida and meeting Dree Harper of The Brass Crane in person. We had been planning this trip in cahoots with Jamie Davis of Casa Boheme for a while. The three of us wanted to collaborate and put our three distinctive sets of eyes on junking and styling Florida Style.
St. Petersburg is a cool, funky, little Florida town with an early Austin vibe. But let’s get into the junking.
After downing a breakfast at the local favorite, Banyan Café, we started making the rounds of Dree’s go-to junking spots. From thrift stores to consignment shops to antique malls, St. Petersburg offered truly unique items with an emphasis on Asian pieces and a great selection of modern paintings. After 10 hours of straight shopping, we called it a day with plans to reconvene to style and show off our combined finds at Casa Boheme. My favorite find of the day was this set of 1980’s metal PopCorn Sconces from Walt Disney World Resort.
P.S. If you’re in the market for beautiful vintage clothes, be sure to stop at Art Pool and Memory Lane!
On our way home, Jamie and Dree gave us a quick tour of the cool neighborhoods in St. Pete’s and peeks into their homes.
After a beautiful brunch at the Historic Vinoy Hotel, we headed to Jamie’s space, Casa Boheme to incorporate all of our finds into her existing store. It was really fun to see our different tastes come together. We created some cool moments by adding African art, pops of color in oversized modern paintings, and a beautiful dining area.
I think it’s safe to say that we formed a real design sisterhood in St. Pete’s. I can’t wait to collaborate with these lovely ladies again soon!!
