Like every room in my house, the loft has undergone some mighty changes these last couple years. Here are some of my all time favorite loft looks!! One of my favorite large pieces of furniture in the studio is a vintage daybed I found at Again and Again in the Dallas Design District. I use it to style every single day. Here’s a look from a while back that shows just how versatile this beautiful piece is.
I shoot in every corner of my house and I really try to make use of the space I have. Here is a diagram/blueprint of the loft so you can see the complete layout:
One great way I made use of my available space was building built-in bookshelves in the landing and in the studio nook. These are life savers when it comes to storing all my design, plant, and cookbooks. Next on my list of to do’s, is turning the studio nook into a cute little bar next to the day bed for entertaining in the late afternoons.
The white-walled room is Jane’s old room that I converted into a show space for Shop Atlantis Home. The room with the black accent wall and Gualpaper is Carol’s old room that houses my big turkish rug and the guest bed for when nieces and friends come to play!
I love separating the space with old crocheted tablecloths to keep the room light and flowing. I painted the floor with a white glaze to keep it looking crisp and clean. Especially when I’m shooting pictures, the contrast between the heavily patterned rugs and pillows and the white walls and floor makes the loft one of my favorite places to style.
I love using the Guatemalan textiles from our Shop inventory to style the loft. The beautiful patterns and detailed hand-embroidery look amazing in the airy room.
I often use throws, runners, and wool rugs to layer a bed. This is a great and easy bohemian look for any room. I mix my patterns and fabrics to really draw the eye in the guest bedroom in my loft. It’s a cozy way to show off my best pieces!!
Along with moving the furniture all around, one of my favorite ways to change up a room fast is to move art and accessories all around. I love putting masks, art, and woven baskets on the walls- the more the better!
My loft has had many, many makeovers in the last couple years and I love the newness of every change I make. I hope that these different looks will inspire you to play around and style (and restyle) your house whenever you feel inspired!!
