Carol found this chocolate chip cookie recipe. She told me they it was “the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever.” She made a batch, and I would agree. These are the best chocolate chip cookies ever!!
Recipe here.
It’s very important to use the bittersweet chocolate, and to chill the dough for 24 hours. (the sea salt was wonderful too!)
Enjoy!!

July 12, 2011 at 12:40 pmI’ve made this recipe before and it IS the very best. I should mention that Ruth Wakefield was related to my grandmother so I’ve always considered myself a bit of a chocolate chip cookie expert (elitist). When I read the NYT article I expected to be unimpressed, but the the author gives a lovely nod to the inventor, so decided to try the recipe when I needed a treat on hand for the electricians. Not only did they ask to take the leftovers with them, the guys still rave about them two years later.

July 26, 2011 at 4:23 amMade them – didn’t manage to get them quite as flat and I’m not sure why. Perhaps I refrigerated too long? I also didn’t manage to find the Valrhona feves, although I did use nice dark chocolate sticks…the taste was amazing, though, and the sea salt really brings it up a notch!

August 24, 2011 at 11:45 pmThanks for sharing! I tried the recipe with large bittersweet chocolate chips from Ghiradelli to save a bit of money, and they tasted great. I also added toasted walnuts. : )
